Delightful DiLingo
By: Nicole S. Porter
As I clicked my mouse on the button that would take me to a random site in the Ring of Words, I could feel the excitement tingling in my veins. I simply knew that I would make the next big writing site discovery. And boy, did I ever!

My initial reaction to the DiLingo, Artificial Language site was one of tremendous shock. Greeting my eyes was what appeared to be Goofy stuck in a psychedelic x-ray machine. Positively bizarre! Shifting my gaze, I noted that awards to either side of the graphic indicated that DiLingo had been honored for originality and "strange enlightenments. " I knew then that this was no ordinary writing site!

Scrolling down, I learned that this site was dedicated to a would-be language known as DiLingo, which, according to author/comedian "Sumus Cacoonus, D.E." was utilized by Walker Percy. "DiLingo is a language that is made up of guttural utterances, primarily by the troglodytes," Cacoonus explains. The information is confusing at best, yet extremely hilarious. Especially the supposed backing of the whole project, the Ensley Foundation ( you must read this to believe it ).

The site contains links for submitting your contributions to DiLingo, researching verbs, tenses, nouns, and more. It is really quite fascinating, if a bit mind boggling.

Cacoonus makes his slightly off-beat character known throughout his work, sprinkling his twisted humor across the site. Everywhere you look there are new jokes to be found, so read everything closely. The parting at the bottom of the site reads, "Chosen by J.D. Powder and Associates as the most gothically visited by visiting Visigoths." Decidedly odd!

DiLingo, while it may not be too entirely edifying to the writer's mind, will definitely tickle the funny bone! Cacoonus has created a site where humor and originality come together in one wonderful, harmonious blend. This site is a must-see for anyone in need of a break from reality. And whatever you do, be careful not to back up!
